Sounds like the easy answer here is "the latest one" but... I heard that there is a "best" (Detonator or Reference) driver for the TNT2 series Graphics cards which is NOT the latest since these are optimized for the GeForce cards. I guess the right one would be the "latest" driver designed specifically for the TNT2 Chipset. Anyone know the driver # and where I could get it? Right now I'm usng the original Diamond driver that came with the card over a year ago. Should I see any performance boost with a switch?

There is no right answer here, so go with the 5.xxx series the reason why I say that is my old TNT card was rock stable with the 5.22 drivers ,anyway try them or 5.30,you can get them from here .Don`t forget to remove the old drivers first (Diamond drivers)before installing the Nvidia drivers, btw I would even give the latest official 6.31 drivers a shot since they are the latest official drivers.

Good answer -- I do like stability... Anybody else out there with some advice for a newbie?

I have a Viper V770 Ultra in my other comp and it uses the Detonator 5.08 drivers, i read a review saying the 5.08's were best for D3D and OGL so i stuck with them, but i HAVE tried 5.16. 5.22 and 6.18
all work completely fine

i'd try and get a 5.xx though I think they are meant more for the older NVidia line of cards IE TNT2.

if you wish to download some of these older drivers and cannot find them contact me I have those drivers on file.

Detonator 3 drivers kinda suck for anything that's not in the GeForce family.

You could get better performance out of your TNT2 if you used 5.xx
