The choices are:
WD Raptor X 160 GB, SATA 150, 10,000 RPM

Average Latency: 2.99ms
Average Seek Time: 4.6ms
Average Write Time: 5.2ms
Cache: 16MB

WD Caviar 160 GB, SATA 300, 7200 RPM

Average Latency: 4.2ms
Average Seek Time: 8.7ms
Cache: 16MB


Note that I have 2GB of high performance RAM and do not use swap space on a hard drive (use RAM for swap space).

The question is when does transfer time out weigh seek time or does it ever
