May sound like a stupid question but which one of these drives is better? Mwave has the 30GB 75GXP (retail) for 131.00 and NewEgg has the 40GB 60GXP for 114.00, the only difference I can see is the 40GB 60GXP has a 40MB/sec transfer rate and the 30GB 75GXP has 37MB/sec transfer rate. So it seems like a no brainer to me but is there something I'm missing?? Thanks much...

the 60GXP is better. it's got a faster substained trasfer rate (3meg faster), quiter, and a little better performance.

Those drives were the one's i was looking at. I just bought the 40GB 60GXP. I mean, just installed it the other day. I love it. I was sold after finding the 60GXP 40GB on pricewatch for $119. Better price that the 30GB.

The 60GXP definitely. Besides being faster and quieter the 60GXPs are much more reliable than the 75s. The 75GXP series has a very high failure rate, expecially the 45GB ones. Just search the forums and you'll find tons of angry threads about 75GXP drives that died. IBM has fixed these problems in the 60GXP series.
