Hey everyone, I was talking to a friend about burning dvds (initially we were talking about him using -R and me using +R cuz i just got a 100pk spindle of RiData DVD+R's for $29.99 at newegg plus a $10 mail-in rebate). Be anyway, I told him that I can't burn dvd's at 8x even though my drive is capable of faster speeds (16x). I have the NEC-ND3500A. I'm using RiData 8x DVD+Rs. He told me to check my DMA settings, and right now "Let BIOS select transfer mode" is checked, and its on Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra33. With these settings, it takes 10mins to burn a dvd at 8x when it should take about 5-6mins. Whats strange is if i burn a dvd at 6x, it'll take right at 11mins. I know 8x should be more than 1min faster. Here's a screen shot of the available options, which one of these should i be using? Thanks.
