I need help picking one. I'm wide open for any suggestions. I do know that I want to go with an DLP and the size I want has to be from 50", 52", 56", or even 62".

Are any of theese 2 a good buy? Or if any of you guys have a better suggestion please let me know.
Thank you.

JVC 56" 1080p

Samsung 56" 1080p

Go for the Samsung, but buy it from Amazon, as it's much cheaper, no tax, and comes right to your door.

EDIT: Amazon also has a good deal on the SXRD.

If you go with a Samsung, stay away from the HL-Sxx87 models. Spend the extra money on the HL-Sxx88 line. They have PiP and the ability to permanently turn off the overscan.

There are many, many happy Samsung HLS-xx87 owners, including me. But I don't care about PIP.

FYI, you can get the HLS 56" about $150 cheaper shipped from OneCall.com or Amazon.com last time I checked, with no tax.

These sets only weigh around 80 pounds, so you might be able to install one without help (a little awkward because of the size) or certainly with a friend, no matter how feeble :)

I heard HP was getting out of the DLP game. Their sets are highly rated--have you tried to find one on closeout sale?

JVC D-ILA is not DLP, its LCOS.

LCOS > DLP.
I think the Samsung you have linked does not have the new LED backlighting system.
Go with JVC

If my 56" Sammy were a woman, I'd have married it (her) already :)

It's an awesome TV for the price.

I really enjoy my Samsung DLP. I've heard so many people complain about viewing angles, and I can sit here... can see the screen... lay on the floor... can see the screen... stand at the side ... see the screen... stand above the set... see the screen. Albeit nothing's as perfect as standing at eye's level, I'm quite accustomed to watching it from my computer chair, which is at an angle :p.

Got a Sammy 61" DLP, been pleased with it. I've had it for about 2 years now with no major issues. Next TV I buy whatever it is will probably be a Sammy again.

Sort of a thread hijack, but how did you get the center channel on top of the tv? Did you use one of those omnimount things? My 56" comes tuesday.
It's a Klipsch Promedia Ultra center. There's an adjustable positioning rod on the back. The rubber feet of the speaker sit evenly on the top of the TV.

Thank you all for your valuable input/suggestions. I would've never thought there were so many Samsung fans outhere.

I would also consider LCoS (JVC and Sony SXRD) technology. Let your eyes be the judge.

Visit your local BB and CC see the TV's yourself and decide which has the best picture.
