Hey there,

I know I know this should be elementary stuff. Unfortnately, I had a trip to the hospital not to long ago and everything after
that is a BLLLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRR. When I was feeliong better I decided to add some fans. In the process I think I
noticed I originally put the fans in backwards. Which way should the sticker be facing for the air flow on Antec and Sunon fans ??
Do all the Computer fan companies follow the same guidelines with the sticker thing ?? Since right now my front fan has the sticker
facing outward and my rear fan has the stick facing in. I am guessing the this is backwards ??? Right ???

Thanks

normally, I'd say the side with the sticker, is the side the fan will blow air to--meaning if you put your hand on that side, it would have air blowing on it.

ALSO, keep in mind that most all fans have two small arrows molded into the side one pointing in the direction of air flow, and the other pointing in the direction the blades spin.... they're not always noticeable, since they are actually molded into the plastic, and will be very small and black (or whatever color the fan is).

Hmmmm,

I switched my fans and MAN did it ever make a difference. Case Temps went from 40C to 30C. :)
Just as a double check the Fan on the Heatsink I have is a Mechatronics. The sticker I assume should be
facing downward towards my HS/CPU. Right now the sticker is facing upwards.

Thanks for the replies

Yes, that CPU fan sounds like it's on backwards to me, but as beverage says, look for the arrows. Hopefully you can switch it easily if you have to.

There should be a little indent/molding/mark on the fan, (generally the side) showing which way the fan spins, and which way airflow travels. Look for it.

From my experience, case fans blow toward the sticker/label. However, Heat Sink fans are different. Mounted correctly, the label is up (visable) and the fan blows down into the heat sink. Of course, if you buy a separate case fan and mount it on a heat sink, it will go with the label down. Anyway, any decent fan will have arrows.

Hey there,

Oh hey, sorry to keep you all going on this subject. I got it remedied. Once I put the case fans
on the correct way my temps went WAY DOWN. Before and After:

CPU
Before: 51C
After : 37-40C

CASE:
Before: 40C
After: 32C

Go Fig.....I think it's really cool now.
This includes the PCI slot cooler from ANTEC. This cooler is right under my
AGP GF2 MX card in PCI slot 1.

Thanks for all the info. :)
