I think the 1521 is newer, but I have read one review where they felt it was cheaply made. Anyone have or seen either of these Inspiron models? If so, what are your impressions?

the 1501 is the same design as the E1505 (Intel). I have the E1505, and I've had no serious complaints with it- The paint Job has held up for 1.5 years, no serious scratches on the outside panel. I love the media buttons in the front more than the newer inspirons. However the 1501 is older, and unless your getting a handsome deal on it I'd suggest going for the newer technology.

also, with the 1521 you can get the built in video camera in it. I've used both a 1501 and a 1521, 1521 also can come in different colors. I'd go for the 1521

id probably go with the 1521 just because its the updated version of the 1501. however, i have a 1501 and its rugged and fantastical as all hell. i love it, best $600 i spent last year

This 1521 doesn't have the camera, but I think it's a good deal. Do you guys agree?
