Which D1 CPU if aiming for a Stable ~3.2Ghz OC?

I would like a stable OC of around 3.2Ghz. Will be buying new HSF. I was initially thinking the 2.4c but seeing there isn't that much money difference between the 2.4c, 2.6c & 2.8c these days, is it worth buying one of the other 2 cpus instead to try and reach a stable ~3.2Ghz OR is the money better spent on RAM or towards a better video card?

If you realy want a Beast of a rig my friend yah gotta spend some serious $$$$$ i am running a 3.0 p4 with a abit ic7-g 1 gig of corsair 3500
a ATI 9800 128k with a swiftec MCX4000-B heat sink and 5 tornado fans
my cpu is OCing to 4.1 gig and well long story short my 3dmark 2003 score is 24800

A 128K Radeon 9800 huh? It must be a special one to be able to get an impossible 24800 3DMarks when even the best systems have a hard time breaking 6500.

Almost everybody who I have seen overclock the 2.4c has gotten to 3.3 GHz. Personally, I wouldn't waste money on anything faster, and the lower multiplier will give you a higher FSB and more memory bandwidth to boot.

Well many of the c1 stepping chips made it to this level, so I would think most of all the d1 stepping chips will do the same...In this case the board and ram may be holds you back from a certain level and stability...

maybe 2.6c if its not much of a price diff

but make sure you get a board that has consistently gotten to around 275+fsb on more than one review
and get some good ram (twinmos pc3200 or 3500 with winbond ch-5 chips are good i believe)
and dont cheap out on psu either....enermax ive always gone with

If you are sure you only want around 3.2g then any of the 3 probably has a close to equal shot.

I tend to think of $50 or $100 as a significant amount of money so I got a 2.4c. It runs at least 3.36g very stable at default voltage and with the retail Intel HSF. If I used better memory and better cooling I think it would be very stable at 3.4 easily and probably higher, but it is hella fast at 3.36g so I don't feel compelled to spend more money.
