I personally have...

USAA Mastercard Platinum with Rewards (Everyone needs a Mastercard or Visa. Most widely accepted all over the globe.)
Discover Platinum with Rewards (Gives me 5% back on gas purchases.)
American Express SkyMiles Platinum (If you travel on business a lot, you need an airline miles card!)

are you a student? if so, citibank has a student version of their dividend platinum select. otherwise, it's pretty hard to get.

for the amex costco cash card, you need a costco membership. the details are: no min, only a max (50k, or something big, i forget). 3% on eating out, 2% on travelling, 1% everything else. lots of places don't take amex though. you get our cash back once a year, in feb

oh yeah, for students, you get to choose whether you want mastercard or visa, for their dividend platinum select. you need to earn up to $50 to redeem. max of $300 per year

BTW, how much do you need to spend to ramp up your cash back %?

There are only a few Amex Cards worth having, and the Costco card is not one of them. Platinum, Centurion, Starwood, and Platinum or Gold Skymiles. All their other cards are crappy, but I do recommend a Blue product just 'cause.

No. The Costco card is worth it because why would you use AMEX when you can use Citibank Dividend at more places? Cashback will beat rewards any day. The cash value you get back is usually the same if not more than any rewards. That's why you max out on the DIFFERENT type of CASHBACKS by using AMEX Costco + Citi Dividend. They cover 2 different fields. Citi does groceries, gas + everything 1%, while AMEX does travel 2%, eating out 3% (I always mix the 2 up so correct me if im wrong) and 1% for everything else. Thus you get everything covered.

Ch-ching. Blue <<< Citi. Why? Blue takes ramping up, meaning you need to spend x amount of $$$ to get the 5% and 1% on everything else. Otherwise its 1% gas/groceries and 0.5% everything else. Why deal with this when:

A) Mastercard/Visa is more accepted than AMEX
B) Citibank Dividend or Chase Visa does 5% / 1% straight out with no minimum balance?

For people who pay their bills ON TIME and in FULL (like me), cashback is the win. There's no better choice.

Yea, it's much harder. I only got $1500 credit on my Citibank Dividend when my Visa has 10.4k, and my AMEX has 8k... wtf.
