which CPU ?????

Hi All
want to busy Dell Studio 15 online,Confused in choosing CPU.
Which one is having better performance ?

Intel® Core™ i5-520M Processor (2.4GHz, 4 Threads, turbo boost up to 2.93GHz, 3M cache)
or
Intel® Core™ i5-540M Processor (2.53GHz, 4 Thread, turbo boost up to 3.06GHz, 3M cache)

want for Moovies,Music and mid level gaming...

pls suggest......

If the cost isn't that much more for the 540m, go for that. $25 is ok. But $50+? forget it. But if you plan on reselling your laptop later, then spring for the faster one since it should theoretically sell for more down the road.

I'd honestly go for whichever is cheaper. They have the same cache sizes, so I think 133MHz isn't going to make a bit of perceivable difference in a laptop.

^ 133MHz is nothing in today's time.

Yep agree with others. If its like a $25 upgrade go for it. But once it hits $50+ then pass.

If you want to game make sure that it has the HD5470...

The 740QM would be better for video editing etc. because it is a quad core, and yes it will run hotter. The performance should be similar to the 720QM if you check out reviews of that.

I have read your post. I would like to prefer for 540m because it’s cheap and best. I think you should go for that.

Most laptops can use all the help they can get gaming and games do love mhz. I'd spring for the extra umph if the price is reasonable.

Price is very high...as they got recently released in India...Costing 2,000 Indian Rupees extra than Core i5 540M
