I am a CS undergrad student(Recently admitted). I want to build a PC. I am confused which cpu should I choose . I don't play games. My budget is 580$ max. Whould I choose low processor with dedicated gpu(ddr4 build)or should I go with iGPU(ddr5 build)? If without gpu budget for processor is 300$ .I am beginner. Please help me.

Should give you some basic ideas about compile times for the 9600X and 9700X compared to a large number of other CPUs. Based on those charts, I would almost recommend a 7700X instead, though the 9600X would probably win in js tasks:

insane node.js performance, great php performance. If you're going to use an interpreted language, Zen5 seems top-notch, even in the basic 9600X form.

Depends, do you want to spend the time needed to learn some of the in/outs of pc building or do you want to get on with simply programming?

If its the former, you can build a killer Ryzen 7xxx series system from someone looking to upgrade.

If its the later, just find a deal on Craigslist/Marketplace for $200-300, maybe a slightly used laptop and get yourself a monitor and kb and go.

For coding and multitasking, go with a CPU that has a good iGPU and supports DDR5. Something like the Intel i5-13500 or AMD Ryzen 7 5700G would be great for your budget. These have strong integrated graphics, so you don’t need a dedicated GPU, and you can save money for faster RAM (DDR5) and other parts.
You sure that is how it works?
