I wanna buy a new top of the line desktop but what's stopping me is the possible release of Skylake in September.
What I really want is a CPU that would run @ 4.0 + GHz stock without the headaches of overclocking.
The current X99 motherboard / 5960X is super slow when it comes to per core speed 3.0 - 3.5 GHz that's even slower than my current Alienware 18 laptop running @ 4.1 GHz on all cores so what I may want is the Devil's Canyon 4970K which has a stock speed of 4.0 GHz with a Turbo Boost of 4.4 GHz but then again the motherboards that can use that CPU are kind of limited in terms of PCIe performance as they only have 1 or 2 PCIe 3x slots.....
The X99 sounds great and has great features but that stupid 5960X is useless to me since you would need an application that would make benefit of multi cores thus I prefer a higher clock speed per core as opposed to more cores.....
Is it wise what I'm doing that is waiting for Skylake to be launched in September?
