If a fan's specs say tht "3GHz & up", does that mean I cant use it w/ my P4 1.7GHz ?

Whats the best fan for processors in the P4 1.7GHz range?

I'm planning to plug in a P4 2.8 within the next month, which fan should I buy so that I dont have to ask this set of dumb questions again?

:D

Thanks!

I got one. Make that 92mm fan a Vantec Tornado; for a fan it's a tad expensive, and it may be hella loud, but it'll push more air than pretty much any other fan on the market, including 120mm fans.

I need quiet, so I'm going to put a 90 mm Panaflo High Flow fan on my SLK900 when it comes in tomorrow. It rates at 35 DBA I believe.

Thanks guys ... also I'm getting a temp reading of 41C after just a few minutes of operation. The present fan is a piece of $hit, cheap generic one that I had to put in a hurry. What temp is acceptable for this range of processors during normal and heavy usage?

41*C is not bad at all... especially under a bit of load.

Grumpy, the 92mm I have is the same panaflo I think you're talking about. It moves a lot of air and isn't really loud at all. Audible, but much much better than the Volcano 7+ I had previously with the same decibel rating.

Thanks for the info on the fan. I was hoping it would be a little more quiet than the vacuum cleaner dust buster fan they put on this 3.06 stock hsf I got. It sure is irritating.
