which cpu better for gaming AMD Phenom II X2 550, Intel E6300 or continoue with old Pentium D935?

OP has the old E6300, and the 550 already is 3.1GHz stock. No comparison because you can overclock the 550 even higher.

The Phenom II X2-550 is the better performer here.

If you combine it with the right mobo, you could even unlock it to X4-955 performance. Not sure if the Biostar is up to that task or if you have the correct stepping of the CPU.

Even if you keep it at X2-550 stock speed, it far better then a core 2 duo E6300 or the PentiumD.

I hope you have a happy setup build. I love building comp.

thought I would update this old post of mine,,,

I sold all the old crap..mine and his and bought 2 Phenom II X2-550 and 2 GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H (the biostar I had wouldn't unlock) one is mine and one is his. I don't do games so I'm using a spare Geforce 8600 GTS and got him a GTX 260. Both computers has all 4 cores unlocked and overclocked to about 3.7 and the difference from both old systems to these are like day and night....got to love newegg combo deals...
