Hi!!I bought some days ago a Motherboard soyo SY6BA+IV K7Via at a really nice price.Caracteristics at:
http://www.soyousa.com/syk7via.html

My question is:What kind of processor slot A could be good for me ?? T-Bird or Athlon??
The athlon come at 74-75$ at pricewatch and it's 650mhz,but the 700mhz one it costs 25$ more.....whichone is better??is it a big difference for the results between 650 or 700??
To go for exemple from 650@859-900 do I need only liquid or peltier or fans are enough?????
Thank you very much for your help🙂))and sorry for my broken english🙂

Either go with a KT7 with a duron 600 which should run to a gig with artic silver...600=50 bucks. Or you could go with a Athlon 800 which is a paltry 130 and go for the gold. I have done the silver i.e. the first option but I think I am going to go for the gold here shortly.

Remember we can all be Forgiven

ok if you get a classic get the 700 it's the last speed with uses 1/2 divider for the cache so it has the fastest cache= o/c higher. if you go t-bird the you can probably hope for 100 - 200 mhz more.

sorry I did not read yours well enough! At this point I don't think it will matter too much but I would stay away from the 650's (not too many out there...plus those are old)

Thanks, but are you sure that amd duron will be ok for my motherboard??
I' read somewheare that my soyo supprts slot A cpu only ,and duron it's socket A.

The t-bird might have issues with the via chipset. most slot a t-birds are used with irongate boards for this very reason.

Sorry...and if I want to put on this m.b. a duron 600 socket A how can I do it if the m.b. is slot A????Is it an adaptor???Thank🙂

To clear this up.

You CANNOT use a Duron with this motherboard.

AMD also says that you CANNOT use a TBird with this motherboard and chipset.

The VIA KX-133 chipset does not officially support the ThunderBird as they use a different clock-signaling technology. There are reports of it working SOMETIMES, but not always.

The board you have will ONLY work with "classic" Athlons (with 512kb cache).

This is why you got such a "nice price". The board does not support any chips currently in production. If you can find a used 'classic' Athlon for a good price, that's probably your best option. The 700 is the best "buy" for the Mhz. Any chip you find for a good price is a valid option however.
