Which cools better: Vantec 80mm or 92mm tornado?

i know the 90 mm puts out more air, but i was talking to some thermalright technician guy, and he was saying that people are using the 80mm fans for overclocking and using the 92mm for more easy going things. i don't understand why in the hell that would make sense if the 92 mm puts out 119 cfm and the 80mm only puts out 84 cfm. maybe someone could clear this up for me. was that guy wrong or am i missing the point?

I'm using my 92mm tornado for overclocking with a low RPMs ~ 2800 but still it pushes a lot of air

I really have no idea but I'll wager a guess.
Maybe because the 80mm has a smaller cross-sectional area it focuses the air more on the center of the heatsink and processor? But my rough calculations with the numbers you provide indicate a higher cfm/mm^2 for the 92mm fan anyways.

So bump for someone who knows what they are talking about :)

That tech is smoking something illegal. Always use the biggest size/highest rpm fan you can on a hsf if you are ocing/don't mind noise.
