Best cooler for what cpu and system?

On the first page of that ecom spyware-infected site, the Raijintek Tisis is the best cooler by far. Didn't venture past the first page because of the spyware/tracker js applets...

Why that site only? Prices seems pretty bad...or has Brexit has hit the cooler scene really hard too?

The best value/performance leader is the Thermalright Macho Direct:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019CRDELS/?tag=pcp0f-21

and the Scythe Fuma:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scythe-SCF...e=UTF8&qid=1480970603&sr=1-12&keywords=scythe

But even these great value coolers could be overkill depending on the cpu and unstated overclocking plans.

I agree with ClockHound.....about how bad that site sucks and his recommendations. The Scythe Fuma is a solid choice.

I filtered down the choices on that site to under 50 Euro, and I saw the be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (the description only says Dark Rock, so that is an assumption).

The funny thing is I didn't even see the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO on that website when I filtered the results. I searched directly for the model, and it came up:

http://www.game.co.uk/en/m/rr-212e-...mm-fan-cpu-air-cooler-rr-212e-16pk-r1-1450050

It's 41 Euro over there, but while it isn't the sexiest cooler out there, it moves a lot of air (25 - 83 CFM). If you are going to be buying your cooler from that website and stay under 50 Euro, you aren't going to be able to be too picky. That site SUCKS. No description, no performance or noise data, really no information at all besides the name and price.

I use this site for all my cooling related reviews when I am looking to buy. Maybe they will have a model on there that is available for a reasonable amount in your neck of the woods:

http://www.overclockers.com/category/reviews/cooling-reviews/

**Edit** I also meant to mention the Scythe Ashura.

Thanks all :)
I think I'll pass then lol. Currently I have the https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005HIRDUA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Is that good for i7 6700k? Is it worth upgrading my cooler at all? I have £100 voucher to spend on game.co.uk. I already have SSD, 3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00650P2ZC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 dunno what to get to be honest lol.

I would replace it, especially if you are going to overclock. Not only because it is older and the lack of performance compared to newer models, but I especially don't like any tower heatsink that is only secured by those little plastic lock things like stock Intel coolers use. Just too heavy and too much stress for the plastic in my opinion.

I'd just get the 212 EVO or the Scythe Ashura from that crappy site, and call it a day. The stock fans on both of those are pretty good, so you don't even need to replace them.

£100 voucher? As in free voucher? In that case the Rajintek Tisis or the Be!Q Dark Rock Pro 3 (if that is on the site) Those two coolers are in the upper tier of the big tower coolers like the Noctua D14/D15 Phanteks TC14PE.

While the 212 is still a good value cooler, it's not nearly a best value cooler like the Thermalright Macho Direct, Scythe Fuma or Cryorig H7.

If I build between a computer a year and one every three years, I have two directions to pursue. If it's a workstation for a fam-damn-ily member not intended for overclocking and not a hand-me-down as I pursue enthusiast heaven, it could likely be a choice of a 212 EVO or something similar without a lot of attention to minor differences

If it's a new workstation for Lil' ol' me, then I revisit the choice of air versus water (versus AiO versus custom). This time -- I went through that exercise again and came up with "air" again. I bought a ThermalRight Le Grand Macho because it edges out the NH-D15 and its design is more of a compact fit in the case -- without overhanging Z170 memory modules.

If you choose a cooler of this size and weight, don't throw your computer around, don't ship the computer with the cooler attached, and be careful if transporting it in your own auto or SUV to avoid bumps.

Nothing wrong with getting a nice cooler. I had a CM 212 Hyper Evo in my last build, and it worked just fine for years. But when I built this one, I decided to splurge a little and went for a Noctua cooler. I have used their fans for years, but this was the first cooler of theirs I bought. I didn't need a big 'ole one like the NH-D15, so I went with the much smaller (and lighter) NH-U12S. It's a really nice cooler, and their attention to detail and quality is impressive. Plus their customer service is one of the best in the PC component and accessory industry.

Oh, I agree completely -- more or less. I'm stuck in the gray area for being a real OC'ing hot-dawg on one hand, but would rather avoid the case-interior-real-estate problem and failure points for a water system. If I'm planning to twist up the multiplier from the git-go, I think nothing of spending north of $70 on a cooler of any kind. But the EVO 212 is a great little cooler otherwise. We have about three of those on systems running in this house. Those Thermalright blue-silly-rubber accordion ducts fit the EVO perfectly, and they weren't even made for them.

BonzaiDuck, have you ever used a Zalman CNPS5x? The only Zalman coolers that I was previously familiar with, were their copper 'flower' coolers. This one is a 92mm tower heatpipe cooler. It's quite compact, and it has a clever mounting mechanism, that works for both AMD and Intel sockets, without needing to remove the mobo. Cooling capacity is somewhat mediocre and towards the lower-end of tower coolers, but I'm using one with my i5-6400 @ 4.455Ghz.

Ah, the good 'ole Zalman. I had one of their coolers back in the day, the cnps7000c-alcu. The solid copper ones were so heavy compared to anything out at that time.

They seemed to be way ahead of most of their competition back then, but for some reason they really squandered their lead, and let companies like Noctua emerge and eventually pass them by.

I remember one of those "flower" suckers looked heavy enough and big enough to bend a motherboard made of sheet-steel (if such were possible.) The first "serious" heatpipe cooler I ever had was a ThermalRight X-120. It had a 92mm equivalent, and I also had one of those.

If I weren't trying to squeeze blood out of the multiplier stone, or stubbornly trying (with some success!) to build a system as cool as a double-fan radiator system, sure -- I might use something like that. If I ignored some recommendations I'd seen here, and if I didn't already say -- I would use a CM 212 EVO without a thought for a new-gen system running at stock. By comparison, I have an i5-3470 in-progress (with what you'd expect with an IB's fabrication). I just slapped a 212 on it and it maxes out at 57C under most stress tests. I'd have to check again to see if it cracks 60 with affinitized Linx, but it passes that test too, and within the TCASE spec compared to maximum Package temperature.

Oh! I see that you OC'd the 6400 by (probably) tweaking the bCLK? Whatever floats your boat if you feel comfy with the peak thermals and the likelihood or frequency of "peak."
