Am about to install a wireless router,(D-link Xtreme n gigabit), my mobo,(asus a8n deluxe) shows two controllers, the Marvell Yukon gigabit ethernet controller, which my cable modem is plugged into now, and an nvidia nforce networking controller, disabled now. Which one should I
plug the new router into? does it make a difference?

It does not matter unless one works better than the other.

You can try one, and then the other, choose, and disable the useless one in the Device Manger.

Start with the NIC that support Giga.

There are general complains about both onboard NICs.

Many people end up switching them Off, and installing a PCI card.

It is Not a big deal since we are talking about devices that worth $5 to $10.

If you download speed is as expected from your Internet Connection, and your LAN transfer is adequate do not lose sleep about which one you use.

As a frame of reference look at this page, http://www.ezlan.net/net_speed.html

It shouldn't make much of a difference in the usual case, but I'd try the nVIDIA first. The Marvell is a PCI bridged and dated. The nVIDIA is also dated, but it's not PCI bridged and at the high end of gigabit, (e.g. synthetic measurements) is likely to perform better than the Marvell even when the PCI bus is not crowded.
