I want to put together my own computer and I want recommendations on which books to read/buy that will tell me all I need to know about doing such a task. Thanks for any information. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, let me know the correct one. Thanks

computer hardware books are always going to be outdated due to the nature of the industry. I think anand had some articles on building your own system somewhere, do a search. The internet is your best bet to find things, plus it's relatively free, (if you dont count paying for your ISP). It's really not that hard, just plug a bunch of stuff in, and most of the plugs only go in one way, one type of slot. Then you can post questions on here and have people answer them.

definitely go for the web over books for help on building computers.
Links to my Big Three sites for tutorials and general info:

The O'Reilly book, "PC Hardware in a Nutshell", is pretty good and the 2nd edition is about to be published. It is obvious that the authors have biases (Intel/MS are the main ones that sort of turn me off on them), but the installation info is pretty good. Mueller's "Repairing and Upgrading PCs" (I think it's up to the 13th ed. now) is also pretty good, but huge, heavy and expensive (sometimes they have it at Sam's Club for cheap.)
