Which company's 5900 non-ultra card is the best?

In the past, it was gainward nvidia cards that ruled the top (along with leadtek). However, I am planning to buy a gfx 5900nu and I want to know if there is a specific tpye that is better than the rest (and also which companies make cards that are lemons). Searching newegg, I have found numerous 5900nu under $250 (including a gainward), but before I put down the cash I would like to know what other people think.

generaly all 5900nu's are the same exept for the memory.make certain you buy the card with 2.2 memory onboard.some 5900's have been reported as clocked past 5950 core speeds.good luck, also steer clear of the 'lx and se' models. those models are slower core speeds and have 2.8 memory.

The difference will be as the previous poster pointed out the memory speed and the quality of their tech support. With NVidia putting out drivers you don't have to depend on the manufacturer to do that... so its pretty much just a question of warranty and RMA ease - and hopefully you won't have to deal with that.

The BFG cards have been overclocking very well. This might not mean anything to someone who does not overclock, but I think it should.

If a piece of hardware can significantly exceed its stock settings, the components of the card and overall design must be of higher quality than its competitors.

I on the other hand have the XfX 5900. I've had it for a little over a week, and it seems to be serving me fine. The PNY and eVGA cards are near replicas of Nvidia's reference design.

The XFX and BFG 5900's tend to be cheapest yet perform on par with the other more expensive 5900's. I'd pick one of them up. The ones to avoid are the Leadtek lx version of the 5900, as it uses 2.8ns ram. There is also a Gainward model that only uses 2.8ns ram that should be avoided. All 5900se's are clocked slower.

Oh yeah, the thread topic!! Umm I have the eVGA 5900nu and it definately cranks. O/C's to 480/940 with 2.2ns mem.
And I have heard they have near the best support for customers.
