Hi,
I remember reading about a laptop with switchable video card a while ago. The laptop could switch between an MXM vid card and the built-in. Does anybody know who makes these laptops?

I don't know about MXM, but I do know that ASUS makes several laptops with switchable video cards, such as the Z71V. They use a mini-PCIe slot, so I'm not sure if it's proprietary.

I think you're referring to the Uniwill 259EN3. It has a switch to select between Intel GMA900 and 6600go. RJ Tech has it for sale. You have to turn off the laptop in order to switch.

Alienware's new m5500 looks to be built on the Uniwill, but it's customizable with different screen resolutions instead of just the standard WXGA.

I can't find specs for the battery, but Alienware's site says it can last up to 3hours, which makes me believe it only has a 6-cell versus 8-cells in a lot of other 15.4" widescreens.
