Hi

guys I was wondering, which company would you say made the best TI4200 ?
my MSI might be leaving me tonight, runing away with a friend of mine, can you believe that ? :)
so I was wondering what should I get to replace this unfaithful card of mine :)

please let me know

Thanks
Dan

I have an msi ti4200 which performs well. Asus or gainward would also be good choices.

Leadtek produced some good GeForce4's especially the heatsink.

here is the thing, my MSI does 10400 in 3dmark2001se and a PNY a friend of mine has does 10151 and that makes it very hard for me to part with it :)
stock speeds, didnt try OCing the PNY, but my msi with some OCing goes up to 11000 3dmark (didnt push it all the way, just wanted 11k 3dmark)
which other card will push 11k 3dmark for $60 ? :)

well asus would be nice, but thats 128mb default and thats $100 and I will only have $60, is 128mb worth a 40% increase in price ?

Thanks
Dan

Well they'll all push 11k if you put them in the right rig. Pair one with a 3ghz p4 and it'll probably push 13k.

I tried both of these in the same machine and the msi pushed more than the pny at stock
amd xp2400, 512mb pc2100, kt333 base

I think overall though most will be fairly close in performance. If you were happy with your previous ti4200, why not just get the same brand? :)

I wanted to see the results so I chose other. :)

Of those, I think the the first three(MSI, Asus, VisionTek) might be the best. I think the other brands would be ok too. As stated above, they are quite similar.

Preferably a company that used < 4ns memory on their cards.
Yeah, check the stats too. :)

I got well over 13K in my Athlon rig: 13,362 marks > MSI 64MB card @300/600.

I also briefly tested it in my P4 2.4C @ 3.2 GHz rig. It got in the 14K range (about 14.5K or so).

Asus V8420S... easily overclocks to Ti4600 speed. Scored 14,500 in 3DMark2001 with my XP2500 @ 2.2 Ghz.

I've always favored anything with tech in the name: Leadtek, Chaintech, and of course, the incomparable Gainward (gainward is just awesome).

Any of those will have plenty of OC headroom.

EDIT:

I will mention though, that a little company named Best Data whipped up the Ti 4400 currently humping my AGP slot, and it's a damn fine card.

Came with a HUGE copper sink/fan combo and FAT FAT FAT BASTARD RAMsinks. I've taken it from 275/552 to 325/650 stably, probably with even more room above that.

I myself own an MSI 4400.... But you should know that Gainward is the best at everything they do, although you don't list them on the poll. Gainwards video cards are >*.

Asus and Gainward make the best cards. Asus is offered in many places but Gainward is harder to find. Asus also offers 3 year warranty which is very handy.

I find asus is usually faster than MSI and Leadtek but these companies all make respectable cards. Only company which I had a bad experience with was Albatron. Stay away from this brand.

Absolutely!

Edit: Here's a review of the Albatron Ti4680 (it really is a Ti4200, Albatron just juiced it up a little :)):

Albatron Ti4680 review

As you can see in the review, they loved the card and were frustrated that the nVidia drivers cut off overclocking at 315/690 when they felt the card would have been fine at faster speeds. Hella fast! As with all Albatron cards, it's also a good looking card.

Hi

Guys thank you all for the input, really appreciate it

For those who asked why no Gainward in the poll - its because I made the pool from what I could remember at the time and thats why I added "other" and also wrote "please post" in the "other" section

Thanks
Dan
