which combo: i3 or dual core / dedicated or integrated graphics

Looking to purchase a laptop mainly for photo and video editing since my dell 1420 can't handle some of my needs. What would be the best combo for this? From what I'm reading, the i3 cpu is better with integrated graphics but I always thought dedicated was better. I saw a few dual cores with 512 - 1 gb gpu, but would an i3 with intel integrated gpu be better? thanks for any feedback.

update/example:
HP G62t
1. I3 or i5 w/ intel hd gpu
2. dual core w/1gb ATI 5470

which would be better for video editing (after effects, premiere, etc.)

Haven't heard great things about acer though. So far my options have been narrowed down to Asus, dell and hp.

That's a shame. Acer usually undercuts Dell and HP by fifty bucks or so. Sometimes as high as a hundred dollars. I can't speak for the quality personally, but I know several people who've bought Acers and never regretted it.

Asus might be able to match the deal, though I'm not sure.
