Which coffee maker to get?

I'm tired of boiling water on a stovetop just to make coffee.. which coffee maker should I get? I'm not even sure how much a good coffee machine costs.. so let's say I have a budget between $50 to $100?
 
You're actually boiling water? Good god, wherever Osama Bin Ladin is, I bet even he has a coffee maker. :Q

I've always been happy with Mr. Coffee products, and surprised when I use somebody else's more expensive Krups/Braun/Eurotrash at how much easier to use and faster my Mr. Coffee is.

$50 or so should be all you need to spend, unless you want a thermo-pot.
 
as a wedding present, my husband and i got a coffee maker that we don't need as neither of us make coffee. it retails for $59.99, i think. it's "one cup coffeehouse - home cafe system" by black & decker.
 
I use a Mr. Coffee maker that I inherited from a roommate like 5 years ago. He was going to throw it out. It's one step up from the most basic unit because it's got a auto turn-on timer on it.

I usually make an 8-cup pot like three or four times a week. It's been doing this for 5 years with no problem. I dropped the glass pot two weeks ago and bought a replacement pot for $10.
 
you can probably get by the cheapy route and enroll in Gevalia for something less than $10 I think (haven't read all the rules and regulations about the deal)

I have, until recently, used this Braun drip for 10 years. I think this made pretty good coffee. I just purchased an espresso machine and that's the only reason why I haven't made a pot of coffee in about a month.

Another cheapy machine that gets pretty good reviews is the Melitta Clarity that goes on sale at QVC on ocassion.

If your really into coffee I recommend spending some time at Coffeegeek
 
get one that has a timer. As long as you have that, you are ok. I spent $50 on a Mr. Coffee and it works like a champ. I still love hearing the little timer go off in the morning telling me that my coffee is ready before I even get out of bed.

The most awesome coffee maker on earth. It keeps water hot inside itself so you get a full pot of coffee in 3 minutes or less.
The carafe keeps the coffee fresh and warm for hours.
I'm seldom very happy with anything. This coffee maker is one thing I'm very happy with.
 
how many servings? if its for one, get a small one...only get a big coffee maker if its got a single cup setting. something about the water not getting hot enough so soon

I second this. We got one a few months back, and it make coffee super-fast.

The coffee tastes good too. I have bought some rather expensive pots to brew good joe, ans this is one of the better maker.
 
Call me a coffee snob...but I recently bought a French press and I'll never go back to a coffee maker again. Alas...you still have to heat the water on the stove.

Before that...I had the same Krups for over 10 years. Good coffeemaker.

I use my coffeemaker to heat water. It's faster than using the stove or microwave.
 
Hard to beat the Gevalia deal. Twenty bucks for a programmable coffee maker and a pound of coffee.

I thought the coffee was pretty good too, but i've never so much as laid eyes on a Starbucks so YMMV.

I third the Bunn recommendation, but I don't see the point of paying $30.00 more for the insulated carafe. There's a heating plate to keep it warm.

We owned our first Bunn for 18 years, and it's still functioning, but in a box in the attic. Second one lasted 8 years, before the heating element in the plate quit. Just replaced it this last Mother's Day, with the B10-Black, on sale at Sears.

Ten cups in just 3 minutes! :thumbsup:
