Which CoD should I buy?

I play PC games and I need to know what game to buy. I was going to get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for PC but I read tons of bad reviews saying that the multilayer for the PC version is terrible and that you can barely play. The Xbox 360 and PS3 reviews are good. I want to know should I get CoD Modern Warfare , Call of Duty World at War, or CoD Modern Warfare 2? And can you tell me why? I would prefer it people that played it to answer.

Remember: I am getting the game for PC!
 
Out of those, definitely go with the original Modern Warfare. Both the SP and MP are excellent and has everything the PC version of MW2 should've had.

COD World at War is good, especially if you like the WW2 genre and COD1/COD2, but it's not as polished or enjoyable as the first MW1.
 
To be fair, I doubt theres still many COD2 servers up(I never even played it single player), so probably a bit old to be purchasing now....

If you dont want MW2, your only feasible options I think are MW1 or WAW.... I never played WAW so cant help ya there.....
 
cod: uo. last cod that didnt have console written all over it. i enjoyed cod2 but the regen health kinna killed it for me. wasnt as challenging to me as the first two cods
 
if you want to buy cod MW2 i can only say that the single player version is fantastic but i am have not played MP yet MW1 is also fantastic both MP and SP.
i got my MW1 cd key from ozcdkeys.com for 20 bucks and they are also selling MW2 for 50 bucks(all in australian so if you don't mind not having the box and cd and all just grab it)

because mw2 was a let down..and im not talking about mp. sp wasnt up to par like the other cods. it didnt seem as polished as say.. cod4. some of the stuff in mw2 didnt even make sense.
 
I have WAW in my fs/ft thread. Never miss an opportunity to pimp your wares.

MW2 is still too expensive but MW is one of the best shooters ever made IMO.
 
Get CoD1 and UO. The best of the series. Lots of servers still up and running. Of the new ones, 4 is the best to get. Skip CoD2- it is too consoley and gets boring quickly.
 
i guess it might depend if your preference is mp or sp, i got mw2 because it's one of the latest games to push my new card, and it looks beautiful btw. the multiplayer is very nice, although i havent played the sp part, because i got it to play with other peps. yet i have nothing to compare it to because this is my first cod game i've played. this is what i enjoy play in games: they are graphically outstanding to look at, on line play with lots of people, stats and ranking, fps, blood, realistic shooting, lots of weapons, and no hackers. so mw2 has most of these, so i like to play it. 🙂 so it depends on what you like, i've had not one problem mp on this game, like other people are saying.

I was pondering the OP's question exactly. I recently tried FEAR 2 for the PC and wasn't impressed. It wasn't bad but it didn't have that same feel as the original FEAR. It felt like a Console first, PC second game.

I haven't played any of the CoD games before, mostly UT Games but since I can scratch UT3 off my list, I'm looking for a new "Top Notch" FPS for my PC. I'm downloading the demo for CoD4 now, so I hope I like it. I tried the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo and wasn't impressed either, I thought it was boring and consolized as well.

I'm personally looking forward to RAGE! I hope Id remembers us PC Gamers and takes care of us. Consoles are fine but PC versions of cross platform games should not be castrated down to the lowest common denominator (X360/PS3).

What the Hell were the ATI HD 58xx and Nvidia Fermi cards made for anyways! They cost as much as a console just by themselves, lets have some games that use that power please!

How about some Halo 3 action, maximized for the PC in a timely manner. I would love that to happen if they did it right. I'll bet MS is working on that as we speak, of course for Vista and Windows 7 which is just fine with me since I'm running Windows 7 now anyways.

Rage is confirmed to be a console port already. It has no dedicated servers and the Xbox 360 is the lead platform.
 
I also recommend Call of Duty 2 and 1. Didn't play 3 since it was on the damn consoles. The 4th one was good, especially the Chernobyl level with snipers, but overall I cant say I loved the game. There was just something lame about it, and i cant put my finger on it... Maybe it's the seemingly infinite enemy spawns... Maybe the crappy ending.. Not sure.

Either way COD4 was good but not great IMHO. The 5th one I didn't play yet... 🙁
