Which choice seems more sensible?

6600 (non-GT) with 1GB of PC3200 DDR RAM or 6600GT with 512mb of PC3200 DDR RAM?

They will be put together with this -

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ skt 939
MSI K8N Neo4-F nForce4 Motherboard
Antec SLK1650B 17" Tower w/ Antec 350w PSU
Samsung 40GB IDE HD
What do you guys think is more sensible?

The choice is clear. If you get the 6600GT, you are kind of stuck with it.
But you get a stick of 512mb memory now, you can easily get another stick later.

So I should get the 6600GT with 512mb of RAM?

100% Yes, especially it's a gaming rig.

Thanks so much toattett!

Don't forget the GT will do SLI, while the non-GT (probably) won't, yielding an additional upgrade path.

Very true....which is why I'm wondering whether I should get the Asus A8N SLI. It's a good motherboard even if you're not going to SLI.
