Which chipset has better scaling for Athlons?

I'm looking to upgrade to a Athlon XP and wonder which mobo is better. How does the Nforce scale to higher speeds compared to teh KT266As?

If I were you, I would wait until the SiS 745 or DDR333 offerings from VIA (hopefully) arrive. The 745 should be here soon, and will support DDR333 as well as having vendor support from manufacturers other than ECS. Not that ECS boards are bad, just that they're budget boards which lack many features.

ST4RCUTTER I am running SIS735 right now on my K7S5A, you're probably talking about the upcoming SIS745 with DDR333 support.

I am patiently waiting on the 745 myself. I just hope this time we have more choices of board makers than we did with the 735.

If I were you, I would just get something now. Waiting for the next big thing helps nothing. Unless you know that item will suit your needs far better than current technology and you know exactly when it will be available. Don't give in to temptation to wait. It's not going to matter, especially since the Thunderbird doesn't really need all that extra memory bandwidth. It's just not that bandwidth hungry. This is proven by the negligible gain obtained by using the nForce's Twinbank architecture.

I just ordered the Epox 8KHA+ and an Athlon XP 1600+ retail. (Actually I got the 1700+ oem, but I clicked the wrong button 🙂 ). I also only ordred 256 megs pc2100. I'm going to use this combo for a while and see what comes out later this year. I think I'm spending right about $300 maybe a little more, so it's not going to break the bank when I sell everything for half or a third that in 9 months and get the new stuff thats out.
