Which chip should I go for?

I am about to decide on which processor I want for my laptop, but I can't choose between the 3000+ or 3700+. The 3700+ is faster, but is $300 extra. I would like to buy the 3000+ and overclock it, but due a laptop just cannot sustain the extra heat like a desktop can. So what do you guys suggest?

I would go with the 3000. Its just not worth it to buy the 3700 unless you got the money to spend. I have a 2800 and it runs great.

Yes 3700+ is marginally better than the 3000+.

What are you going to be doing on this notebook and what notebook is it?

3000+...... 300 bucks more for a couple hundred MHz is not right.

Just a moment now gentlemen, if he is basing the pricing off of the DTRs from da egg then he is shelling out 3 bills for 600mhz, and with the way the A64s scale with clockspeed that is a big performance leap in many areas. Of course if he is a gamer and his notebook is capable, then upgrading the vid card could be a wiser upgrade if his present one isn't high-end for mobile. We obviously need more info in order to advise him. The DTR 3200+@$192 is a good balance between cost and performance since he will get 200mhz for less than $40 more than the 3000+ if he is indeed shopping da egg.

Thank you everybody for your reply. I am basically going to use the notebook for gaming, and yes possibly a DTR. I am looking through all the companies that provide AMD as a choice, such as ibuypower, acer, and voodoopc. I would like to purchase the 3000+, but i'm just worried that as time progress it will become obsolete. So i'm not sure, that's why i'm here to seek for some advice.

Given your a gamer, make certain you invest in a high-end vid card and if the extra 3 bills for 600mhz fits in the budget go for it. If you need to watch your wallet a little more closely then get the 3000+ and vid card because you can always drop the 3700+ in down the road when you need more juice and it'll be significantly cheaper then too.

I would like to save a few hundred bucks, so the 3000+ sounds reasonable, but i'll think about it. I'm also wonderings if its easy to upgrade a laptop? Like the processor itself.

Upgrading the CPU in notebooks is usually a bit more involved than a desktop simply because of the limited space which means a bit more labor to get at it and then put things back, but really not a issue. Beyond that it is no different than a desktop i.e. must be pin compatable and a bios upgrade may be required.
