Thinking about replacing my Galaxy S5, had it for many years and it is getting dated. What cell phone do you all recommend and why. I'm not interested in Apple right now. Thanks,

I hate my Samsung. Total garbage compared to the HTC I had previously. I'll go back to HTC next time.

Pixel 2 or the xl version. Best Android phone I've ever used and it's not perfect

Pixel 2 XL and Galaxy S9+ are pretty great. I'm not a fan of Samsung, but think they finally did a good enough job that I'm starting to like this quite a bit and am not returning it.
I like the Pixel for the software experience, fingerprint scanner, display ratio, and camera.
I like the S9+ for the display quality, speakers, expandable storage, wireless charging, headphone jack (just in case), more RAM and newer CPU.

I have a Pixel and adore it. The lack of a headphone jack on the Pixel 2 would be a real nuisance though.

The Pixel 2 is a fine, if boring, phone. I would recommend it and either the S8 or S9. I myself have the Note 8 and S9+ as well as the pixel 2 (nonXL) and all are fine.

I went with the OnePlus 5T over the Pixel 2 based on a few reviews of the phones.

I'll be eyeing the OP 6 when it releases.

I had a Galaxy S5, and the wife still does, she needs an update.

OP, What's your budget?

If you’re on a budget id get a OnePlus or Essential. Essential has a good update history so far and its around $400 brand new.

No budget, id aim for the Pixel 2 or S9, depending on your preference. Pixel 2 is going to have 3 years of software updates.

If you are ok with Google Fi and a budget phone, there are great deals on Moto X4s. $250 per Moto X4 and $249 in Fi credit if you buy two phones on a single account. Which works out to about 5 months of free service for a two-user account.

I really like my S8. Love everything about it actually, including the fit/size. It's just perfect for me. And the price is reasonable now...

Good luck with your choice!
