hi!
i want to change my old cd-r with a one 16x! i use only scsi.
anyone know or has try a new 16x cd-r?
i like the waitec t-rex, what do you think about?
thanks!

Plextor and TDK have the 16X units out now. If I remember correctly, these two were rated higher then the Yamaha unit, though I think only the Yamaha is currently available with a SCSI interface. I would get the Plextor if it is available w/ SCSI or wait for it to be.

Whatever you're looking at getting, be sure to check the websites of the burning software you like to use to make sure it's supported! Don't want any nasty suprises, eh?

I love my Plextors... don't have a 16x, but would be going there if I needed a new one.

I have the Yamaha 16x and use Nero with it and I love it. I have also used Adaptec with it and it is slightly faster than Nero. I can burn a 650Mb data cd in under 3 1/2 minutes. The Yamaha drive rocks!

P.S. One drawback to this drive is an annoyingly loud vibrating that occurs after the burn is complete if you allow the drive to spin up.

Plextor here

but have read articals that say the Ricoh is nipping on their heels.

Everything else is crap.

but...anybody know the waitec t-rex 16x10x40 scsi?
i have a waitec 8x24 scsi and after 2000 cd it's good yet! i have burn only 2 bad cd with it!
