Which Caribbean location offers the best bang for the buck?

Was wondering if there are any folks here who are particularly fond of and acquainted with the various locales in the Caribbean. Was wanting to ask for some input into which offers the best blend of cost, aesthetics, and convienience. Unfortunately we aren't in the position to be completely price insensitive, so reserving an entire private island is out.

**Update** the latest idea is Trinidad/Tobago. Anyone with experience visiting there?

St. Maarten was a real nice place - they have a dutch and french section so you get a nice blend of culture. The tours are real nice too, especially the one that takes you to the nude beach :p

punta cana or puerto plata. Dollar goes a long way in dominican republic.

mucho nice, mucho cheap. Sure it's not as nice as other places...but it's 1/3 the cost.

Have you been there? I believe the average age of the people on Orient Beach was 60 years, and that was the nude side

There were a lot of college aged people when I was at Orient Beach, but yes there were a fair share of old people too. I wasn't there for too long because I was on a tour.

yeah, but the dominican republic is closer to Europe.

That means you see boobies all up and down the beach. It's perfect.

May I suggest that you do a caribbean honeymoon, instead? Destination weddings often take a huge toll on guests.

2-a lot of nice and pretty girls
3- relly nice looking country
4-nice beaches (sp¿¿¿???)

Agreed. If I was in your family, I'd be RSVPing regrets.

You probably wouldn't have been invited ;)

I didn't even invite 3 of my brothers to our destination wedding :p

Same here. My wife's sister and her husband were the only ones that came to our wedding in the USVI.

Point well taken, but I am the groom and thus I am somewhat hostage to the whims and desires of my fiancee. I'm not the smartest guy in the world but do realize that there's a fine line between giving too much and too little input into matters such as wedding decisions. IMHO, trying to talk her out of one of the things she says is most important to her (i.e. destination wedding) isn't the healthiest action to take.

don't listen to those saying NOT to have a DW.
It was the best thing we ever did. It was magical and memorable.

I have not been to T/T, but i would suggest doing St. Thomas/ St. John. It is the USVI, not a lot of issues with marriage licenses and transfering them upon your return.

There are some nice hotels/small resorts and the beaches are beautiful. If you have the money, try renting a home for you and your guests and getting married on the property. That way, you can have a good time and not have to worry about people getting back to their hotels safely.

anyways, good luck, but do what you and your bride want, don't listen to anyone else.
And, if you want, come back "home" and have a nice reception with your whole family and friends.
PM me if you want more info. I did a lot of reserach for beach/destination weddings.
