i play games like halo, half-life 2, and similar but i need to upgrade my graphics card desperately. i have no PCI-e, preferably an ATI, and preferably less than $300 (about $150-$200 would be best so i can get it sooner)
 
Although it isn't an ATI card, the 6600GT is probably your best choice. The only AGP ATI card at that price is the 9800 pro, which performs worse, even at HL2, and is a previous generation card.
 
Am i crazy or not, but i thought the 6600GT only exceeded the 9800Pro with AA/AF off or low. Correct if wrong (link?)

<$175 = Used 9800 Pro/9700 Pro/5900/X700 Pro
<$240 = 6600GT
<$320 = 6800/Used 6800 GT/ X800XL (good luck!)
<$450 = why are you asking? Choose your poison and dump your money

You're over generalizing. It only happens in a few games and the difference is small, most of them are from the previous generation. ShadowBlade seems to want to play newer games like HL2 where the 6600GT is clearly the way to go.
