I recently came across 2 video cards. a Ti 4200 128MB 4x for $140Cdn and a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro for $200Cdn. Not sure which to keep. if the +60 is worth it for the 9600 or not. I would also like to try and overclock the cards a bit to squeeze some extra out of them. I knwo the 4200 can overclock a decent amount, how about the 9600? Any info is appreciated so I can decide which to use.
Cheers,
Shaun

9600 pro's generally overclock pretty well, just like a ti4200. If you have the cash you'd be better served with the 9600 pro.

Well...to me this seems kind of like a no-brainer. The 9600 Pro has got to be the card of choice. No amount of O/C on the 4200 will ever get it as fast as the 9600 PRO abilities along with suprior graphics, Anti-Aliasing and Ansiotropic Filtering.......the list goes on. These cards are a year apart in there tech. improvements.

They perform the at the same level unless you use AA/AF, and then the 9600 is about twice as fast, so it depends on what you want to do and what games you play.

Yes, the 60 loonies is well worth it and more important, where did you get the 9600 Pro at that price?

Generally, the Ti4200 does a bit better on older games (DX8) and the 9600 Pro does better on newer games (DX9). The 9600 definitely does better with AA. The Ti4200 can beat the 9600 on several tests, but not by a huge margin.

When you consider the 9600 is DX9 hardware compatible, does better with newer games, has a dual RAMDAC for true dual-display environments, has better video enhancements, and overclocks well...the 9600 wins.
