card

Firstly, this is a Fudzilla April Fool's Day joke pic.

So with that out of the way - which card is that? Just wondering as a matter of curiosity/trivia/nostalgia. It's AGP, so I'm thinking it's from the GeForce FX 5XXX line. I thought it might have been the infamous dustbuster FX 5800 Ultra, but the fan doesn't exactly match the ones I'm seeing on Google Images.

It's probably a 5800ultra. Those were famous for putting out well over 100watts of heat and the stock cooler sounding like a vacuum cleaner.
"Hottest card ever" makes me suspect this

edit: It MSRP'ed at $400 so unless they are scaling in the depreciation of the USD since then, they're wrong about it being the highest priced nvidia card ever. The 512meg 6/7800gtx takes that crown I think They retailed for... $~700 I wanna say?

Hey, I think I found it - Abit FX 5800?

As far as "most expensive ever", maybe they were writing the article from the point of view of how it would have been written way back when the card was released?

Possibly... or else they could be euro.. the MSRP was 600-700 Euro at the time... which would be like $950-1100 now.

http://www.digit-life.com/archive.shtml?2003/0219 also shows it, though the caps are a bit different on the bottom right. It was a limited edition, in a wooden box and with abit's expensive otes cooler, so it could have been the most expensive card ever.

Wasn't the 7800gtx msrp at $600, it was just retailers price gauging that put it over $700.

Actually, reading the fudzilla link, it only says that the product was nvidia's most expensive, and development of the 5800 series was the most expensive vga card to date (and it still got spanked by the 9700/9800 pro!)
