which card is better??

Hey,

I"m just wondering which card is better, currently I have Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64MB card, I'm debating on upgrading to either the Sapphire 9600 PRO 128MB card or an XFX GEFORCE FX 5600 8XAGP/DX9 256MB DDR W/ VIVO and DVI. I've been told that the memory and core speeds are one of the most important things to look for in a video card...so from all the tests and reviews, I'm wondering which out of these 2 cards is the best one, if anyone can help me out, let me know thanks.

Welcome to the forums! The 9600 Pro is better hands down. Most "mainstream" cards that have 256MB of memory also have slower memory than the 128MB versions. That said, even the 128MB FX5600 Ultra is slower than the 9600 Pro. Unless you need VIVO, I'd take the 9600 Pro in a heartbeat from those two choices.

I don't think you should upgrade. If you were stepping up to a FX5900 or Radeon 9800, then yes. But your step up isn't that great unless you really like AA/AF and DirectX 9 games.

i agree, the ti4200 has shown itself to still be a strong performer in dx8 games if you don't run aa/ff. if that's something you'd really like to be able to do, then the radeon would be the better aa/ff capable vid card
