voodoo 2 due to glide support in ut. Generally speaking the voodoo 2 is also faster than the tnt1

In Glide the V2 will spank the TNT silly, but for non-Glide games you will be bettter off with the TNT card.

In OpenGL, the TNT would be better, but in D3D the edge would probably go to Voodoo2. Those 2 choices are both bad, but if I had to choose between the 2 I'd probably take the Voodoo2. That being said, I'm sure both cards would play most games fine, provided that one didn't expect to go online and play against more than 10 players. I hope you plan to get a new vidcard sometime soon.

I think UT looks better in D3D on a TNT card than in Glide on a Voodoo2. This doesn't apply to a Geforce in D3D vs a Voodoo5 in Glide. The v2 would cetainly be faster for UT. The TNT1 is much faster for general purpose D3D and opengl stuff though. When it first came out the TNT was a little slower than the v2, but that was before even the detonator1 drivers came out. Now with current drivers it's much better.

Voodoo2

Use the newest reference drivers from 3dfx. UT looks very nice. I tried a MonsterFusion card and a Viper300(?) which I believe was just a TNT based card. In my opinion the voodooII looked better and ran smoother than the other 2 cards. My voodooII only had 8mb of ram on it.

I've got a V2 and a TNT sitting in a celery 400 system w/ 64 megs of RAM. The V2 spanks the TNT in UT.

V2 definately. (Though the TNT would have better graphics)

The TNT is just too slow for UT.

Semper_Fi: are you sure that was a TNT? viper3300 is a riva128 based card, mind you. TNTs are somewhere between a single v2 and v2-SLI in non-glide games. with that said, in games with unreal engine v2 will fare much better.

You're right BrotherMan.
I couldn't remember the card, but after I read your post I remember. :)
It was a Riva128 (i believe it was a 128X?) Anyway sorry for any confusion.

One or two Voodoo2s? If you have the dual SLI setup, then the V2 will beat the TNT. But if you have only one Voodoo2, then the TNT may be faster, Glide or no Glide.

In Unreal and UT based games, the V2 will be faster no doubt.

In most other games, the TNT will be faster, but only mariginally so, but why not just use the V2 and the TNT, since the V2 is a 3D only card?
