Which card for VR?

With a budget of $500. 2070? A used 1080ti? Or either of those overkill, considering I won't be gaming at more than 1440p?

What HMD? For a rift something around the power level of a 1080gtx is pretty ideal. Overkill really, but it'll let you turn on supersampling on a lot of titles. 2070 should work. The 1080ti would be better at the same price of course, assuming you don't care about the RTX feature set.

For 1440p pancake gaming do you care about high refresh? Do you have an adaptive sync monitor?

1440p would be for the Samsung Odyssey+

My monitor is 1080p, so even the 970 I have is OK in most games, although not all. It starts to fold on Battlefield V even at medium settings.
