Which card for $1600 Gaming System?

As the title says, I'm wondering which video card to get for my new gaming rig. Here are the specs sans video card:

Opteron 148 CABNE (already have)
DFI LANParty nF4 Ultra-D
Crucial Ballistix 2Gb
Seagate 7200.9 160Gb
TT Big Typhoon
Creative X-FI Music
Antec p180
Antec Neopower 480w

I'm an employee at CompUSA so I get some decent discounts on video cards. Unfortunatly, we dont have any of the top end cards. Here are the higher-end cards I can get a discount on:

ATI x850XT $240
BFG 7800GT OC $340

My other options would be to just get a x1800XT/7800GTX 256 or 512mb at normal etail pricing. What would you folks suggest?

by 7800 do you mean the GT or GTX?

7800GT right now is best bang for your buck at the high level since you got $$ to spend nice rig.

x1800XT/7800GTX 256 or 512mb are for people who just have alot money to burn but they too are great cards.
