Ok so right now I am sitting with my low end model 94 Honda Civic DX Sedan with 67k on it. I want an upgrade cuz lately there have been more "costs" involved with maintaining it. So my choices I want are:

Used Civic Si with under 30k on it ($15k ish)
Used 97-99 Acura CL with under 50k on it (14k ish)
New Scion xB (15k ish)

Which would u get? Each has its pluses and minuses like I totally dig the ass design of the CL but the more I wait the more unlikely it is to get one with lowish miles. The Si would just be an upgrade of sorts but not really something I am all excited about...at least I know it is dependable. And the Scion is kinda ugly but appealing in a weird way...and it would be new so that is cool...I am assuming since it is made by Toyota it will be dependable too.

I think i'll take the CL although the rear on that car is ugly. It looks more of a chicks car.

for modding and such, I'd get the SI.

the Scion for just a daily commuter.

New car against used car? Sides, people have varying tastes.

My sister-in-law has a 97 CL. The 3.0 is worth like 10k through edmunds though, so I don't know where you got that from.

Its a nice car with a reliable engine, but maybe its because it was the first year of production that it has a lot of minor kinks. Driverside window motor broke, little electronics like that.

Well I am not planning to mod any new civic....been there done that...not worth the money. I haven't seen many 97 CLs around but 99's u can find here and there and the 3.0s are not 10k. Unless they have like 120k miles on it or something like that. And that brings another variable up...I want a 2.3 version cuz it can have a stick...all the 3.0s come with automatic so that just makes getting the CL harder and harder. There would be a lot of other factors that would come into play like insurance and overall mainenance costs. The CL is reliable but a used one would probably need more money up front to get it tuned up and up to par while the scion would be all new and would probably not need anything major till 30k was put on it.

You shouldn't even play around like that:confused:

no, i'm totally serious. its brand new, gives a bunch of miles per gallon for a vehicle its size, stores plenty and moves plenty, has toyota quality attached to it. i agree that its underpowered as hell and the boxy look could be a little better, but i find the boxy look growing upon me. if i had the time, i'd go out to CA and buy one of those.

edit: forgot most important reason. damned good price for a new car that's functional.

civic Si if you just want a fun "commuter car". The CL if you want to spoil your self a little...but don't mind some mainenance in the near future.

Yeah I would agree with the storage aspect too...I tend to move around a lot these days.
