I'm getting a car and it's down to these to cars. Toyota Matrix XRX or Sentra Se-r Spec V? The sentra has more of a sporty look so I kinda like that better but it is known that Nissan cars have alot of problems. Both cars are around 180 hp.

Nissan has lots of problems???? I've owned 4 with no troubles, just routine maintenance. I'd get the Nissan, it's a reliable car with plenty of power.

ehhh, my family has 3. not really any major problems.
I think the spec v will be more fun and faster than the matrix, but the matrix will have more useable room.
Personally, we all know I'd go with the Spec V.

Do you need the practicality of a wagon??

You should be comparing the Corolla S to the Sentra SE-R.

I'd pick the SE-R.

MATRIX :D

but then again i'm biased, since i just bought one... It drives like a dream! I know we're only supposed to go under 55 for the first 500 or so miles... but this car has a mind of its own.. it wants to go 70 :Q and i gotta let it do what it wants to :)

I'd take the Matrix all the way.

Of all my friends with Toyotas, none of them have ever had problems with them.

I'm vosting for the Sentra - looks much better on the outside, and on paper, IMO. It's got great specs for the price.

The main thing that kept me from buying a Spec V is the ugly-ass (IMO) interior...(specifically the seats).

Also, I agree that a better comparison would be the SE-R to the Corolla S as someone said above.

Why don't you test drive both cars? You'll walk away with a grin on your face after you test drive the Nissan SE-R spec. The seats are FREAKIN awesome too. Tell us what ya got i bet ur gonna opt for sentra...if you try to take the car in a windy road too.

I'd go with the Nissan. Both may have 180hp, but the Nissan has a LOT more low-midrange torque. Think about this - people say the Celica GT-S has too little torque. Now, add ~200lbs of dead weight to the equation and you basically have the Matrix. Those 180 horses are awfully peaky.

Besides, the Matrix is pretty ugly IMO

Good afternoon,
The Toyota Matrix is a new model and therefore has no track record in reliability other than its Toyota name. If you like the looks, which I find appalling, then you may find it worth the gamble.

Since the first Nissan Sentra SE-R back in the early 1990s, year after year it's been a favorite of every major automotive publication as the best bang-for-buck (inexpensive) sporty car available.

It comes down to this: do you have the cash; which looks do you prefer; test drive them extensively and which is the better drive.

Good luck,
PCM

P.S. - With your alias of SUBxWRX, why aren't you buying the Subaru Impreza WRX!!!

please dont' get the sentra spec V.. it is a horrible car for the money.. read the reviews in a couple of sites.. you should definately inveset your money in the wrx instead or wait later on this year for the sti imprezzaa or the evo VII from subaru and mitsubishi respectvely.. but don't get the sentra!!

as for the matrix, it's a good car but doesn't have enough power given the options.. 180 fwd vs 160 awd.. i don't know about that.. plus it looks kind of funky.. more teenager..,

definately get the wrx, and if u want a wagon, there's always a wrx wagon version! =)
get manual..

Except that the Corolla S has no 'sport' to back up its insignia or looks. They should have atleast put in the 180hp engine in the S trim..oh well..their loss. The Corolla S looks pretty stupid with its bodykit high up from the ground, the least they could have done was lower the car a little.

You don't think the Matrix looks cooler than the Corolla?
