Which car should I get...POLL

Alright, I've decided between two I think.

Either a Dodge Intrepid or a Pontiac Grand Prix, probably a 2000 or 2001 model. What you do guys think?

Pontiac GP by a mile. As long as it is the 3.8L V6 and not the 3.1L. But test drive both and I think you will agree.

If it has to be one of the two, get the Pontiac. That's still far from the best choice. My aunt had a Grand Prix GT (3800 V6) and the car gave her nothing but trouble. In less than four years the transmission failed, the rear main seal blew, and the engine threw a rod. (All separate incidents.) There were also persistant issues with the traction control and the ABS.

EDIT: My aunt still ended up trading her old Grand Prix GT in on a new Grand Prix GT though. She just likes sporty cars. Before the Grand Prix she had a Mustang GT ('94 I think, first year after notfred's style of 'Stang) and before the Mustang she had a Camaro. Then she got tired of RWD in the winter and bought the Pontiac.

wow that's some crazy mileage, dude!! 😛

I'd go for the Intrepid, I think it's a much nicer car. That said, I hate that POS.

going to be a family-ish car

budget $9-14K
looking for around 40K miles or less.

I just like the looks of the both.

But what would you guys suggest for the above interests in a car?

I would say neither, how much do you have to spend or does it absolutely have to be one of those? If so then the grand prix would be the best.

A Honda Accord

both these cars will be worthless in 5 years. Car is an investment not a good one mind you but never the less don't cut your own throat. depreciation on these cars is terrible plain and simple.

good luck and don't buy a lemon!

New, yes I would agree with you. But used, uhhhh no. You can get more power, more options, newer, and far less miles dollar for dollar with domestic than you can an accord. Let somebody else eat that depreciation. But, as a used car buyer, that abysmal resale is your friend. You can get a very nice car for less than half what somebody paid for it two years ago.

Can't do the same with a Honda. You just can't beat the bang for the buck used domestic sedans offer.
