What's worth it in the new ones. I don't need too many MegaPixels. Are there some models to avoid or ones to get for their special features?

Thanks.

I have a 550 and am VERY happy with it, but I would consider getting one of the newer ones (600/700?) because of their image stabilization feature, which is very nice to have.

I noticed that one has a 3"! screen which takes up almost the whole back. I might like a 2.5" screen with more room for fingers back there...

The SD 500/550 have higher resolution than the SD700? That makes no sense. The model numbers are screwed up! And the price has not dropped at all on the older models. Some of them still cost more than the new ones. What gives?

I haven't looked at prices, but the higher the number, the more recently it was released. I'd pick one w/ less megapixels but image stabilization.

image stabilization is much more beneficial to the quality of your pics than a big screen, unless you constantly carry a tripod or you are a robot in which case you should not even need a camera since one or two of your eyes have image capturing technology built in, and if they don't, wtf kind of robot are you?
