Heh, I got a kid's account when I was like, 7, and I still have it from the royal. I don't use the account any more, but there's no charges on it at all 🙂

I got some special account from a local credit union, and all my abm charges are free (unless I go to a royal bank machine or the like of course).
 
We still have two royal bank issued visa cards and two checking accounts. RBC is the only company in the history of mankind of any size that actually responds to emails, and that's a fact.

I've never been upset with them anyway. TD or CIBC (I can't remember which so it's best not to go with either of them!) can rott in the eternal abyss of hellishness where it deserves to reside.

RBC is the only way!

I'm actually sorry and feel I must appologize for taking this thread where you never intended it. All I really meant was RBC is good. I know nothing about fees though on ATMs 😉

 
the interac fees? they can be anywhere from nothing to whatever the ABM provider wants to charge for them, usually $1.75, plus whatever surcharges the bank wants to add on.
 
CIBC has no fee if you have more than 1000$ in your account.
RBC allows for 2 free transaction per month.

CIBC is the way to go!!
 
Why don't you send e-mails to the President & CEO's of the major Canadian banks?

I'm sure that they'll personally reply to your query within minutes of seeing it 😛

this idea just hit my brain. Costco in US has cheaper atm 0.75cents per transaction!, is my costco card valid in canada and i think canadian costco atm should be cheaper as well wohoo
 
Check out the SUPERSTORE. I know they have them here in Winnipeg, and they have a bank which offers something like 5% interest on their savings, and free ATM/Interac
 
I am not moving to Canada at least for now 🙂 just going for roadtrip so all I need is good exchange rate and less fee's. I think my Costco idea will work
