I think Nikon is the better manufacturer but as a cp2500 owner I can say the lack of manual controls is very frustrating to me, but I'm also trying to push it beyond snap shot usage. In low light situations it tends to bump up the asa speed and make for some pretty grainy looking images.
alot of people here swear by the Canon's I am actualy switching from OLY to Canon. just to see what all the hub bub is about. I'd find a A40-A60. If you go 2500 a brand new one is $179 shipped at buydig.com (there is also a $50 rebate good through many retailers like Ritz $199 -$50)
