I'm considering Adelphia powerlink Do they have a cap on dl/ul speeds? If so, which cable doesn't have a cap?

unlike DSL in cable you cannot randomly choose your provider.. if are limited to the provider who services your area.

I believe TimeWarner is good for a 2Mb downstream.. Adelphia is also good.. but their service is not that wide spread.
Charter (which I have) is decent, but does have problems of downtime from time to time.

If you can get DSL, get that instead. It is more reliable and has less latency, IMO.

ihave adelphia, i am in the van nuys district in the san fernando valley. My cable SUCKS!!!!!! SOOOOOOOO slow, and i mean SLOW, even at 3-4am it isn't as fast as it should be but it is better than during the day. I normally get 7kbps down on any dl whether from msn update, through a brower, icq, or kazaa during the day. Also, and this is NO joke, when i had msn dialup i was far more stable, i would be connected for 24 horus at a time exactly at which time msn d/ced you, where as on adelphia man somethgin is ALWAYS down. DNS servers are constantly down as in once a day at least for about an hour! forcing me to only be able to use msnIM. DHCP servers go down around 3 times a week for up to 3 hours. Entire net goes down once every abotu 3 weeks for around 5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to go to dsl but i won't be around much longer here so. I hear great thigns about dsl (NOT FROM PACBELL THOUGH) yet everyone i knwo who has gone from dsl to cable have preferred the switch so i dunno...

adelphia in santa ana here

it's slower than @home but more stable

~300k max dl, 14k max ul

however their automated systems suck

with @Home all you did was log onto your account and you could add/delete email addresses and setup homepages and crap with ease

adelphia's system, you have to send in a request and they do it BY HAND

friend is on timewarner, he's still uncapped

does like 400k/down 40k/up
