Starwood is a credit card, not a charge card, so you get the grace period. The annual fee is also lower. Other than that...

Well my BOA Gold Card is fixed at around 8, so i could always just tranfer the balance off every month if need be.

Well if you pay your bill every month without using the grace period or don't mind the hassle of doing balance transfers, then I would go with the Gold card as the rewards program is better. That said, I have the Starwood and have gotten good use out of the BVG and Extended Warranty programs.

Well i definately would use up the $1000 yearly allowance for BVG, but the yearly fee on the gold kinda sucks...

Is it 1 mile for every dollar for the gold?

Actually its up to $90/yr now and no free year....

meanwhile the starwood is free for the first year and only $30/yr after...

The only think i think i would want to use my MR for is miles, but for $90 a year i think i'd be better off putting that money into the actual ticket price, no?

if you go with the Gold, go for the one that costs $130/annually, especially if you want to use airline miles.

$90 annual = 2points/1mile
$130 annual = 1point/1mile

depending how much you charge a year, it's probably worth the fee since you can make that up easily with BVG. free miles is good too, especially since you get double points on purchases from gas, supermarkets, and other things

Well i've been averaging about 1-2k per year on my cards, maybe a little more this past year.

if thats all you spend, the $130 annual is like 5-10% of your total card spending. it may not be worth it in those cases. i think starwood might be best.
