Hey guys,
The rig in my sig is a planned one and has undergone many revisions due to a lot of great feedback from members. In an effort to save a little $$$ or increase the performance... or both, I want to explore some alternatives. In addition to the rig in my sig, I've looked at one like this:
am2 3200+ cpu w/scythe ninja if it is compatible, would like to overclock
asus m2n-e nf570 ultra MoBo
Corsiar xms ddr2-800 RAM
same case, psu, hard drive, vid card etc.
Of course I'll be considering conroe, but right now no one has a non-sli board that supports it, so I'll wait to price it out, it should be the same other than the MoBo and CPU

In addition, I know that the dx10 cards will be coming out next year, but are the prices of current cards going to be dropping off the table leading up to it? When would be the best time to buy all my components (at the cheapest price)?
Thanks in advance for your help.

(Gazing inward) I see all becoming clear.....July 24th. Seriously, by the time AM2 really gets going in terms of chip sets, DDR2 speeds, and debugged bioses, it'l be time to upgrade again. Its called the bleeding edge for a reason. I much prefer fanboys and their wealthy mommies and daddies to do the bleeding for me. Go with the S939 system. :)

sounds good, do you think that I could get by with a 7600gt till dx10 comes out and makes todays high end chips cheaper?

It's very subjective. I would definitely stick with the 7600gt if it allows you to have the kind of game play you enjoy. I personally care more about game play than how far I can push the aa or frame rate.
