Express' "modern fit" which equates to slim fit is not very slim for me. I'm Asian, so maybe it's natural to be thin, and so I don't find an American brand like Express to be very fitting even when it coems down to slim fit. I feel that it's the equivalent of a regular fit.

Now that said, I really enjoy H&M's slim fit which fits me perfectly. European brands = true slim fit. Now some like Zara's slim fit = me bulging out, so who knows. Abercrombie fits me nice too

Banana doesn't make slim fit shirts as far as I know, and so I wear their small shirts as opposed to medium for other brands. Gap does have fitted shirts, and their medium fitted fits me nice.

For slim fit, look for Express shirts that say 'Modern fit' (e.g., 1MX) or BR that say 'fitted'

One brand I've found that really fits me well (I'm pretty muscular and lean) is Brandini. I typically get XL shirts and they are pretty fitted to my body. I have long arms so I need to make sure that the length of the sleeves are long enough. I also have big shoulders. sometimes large shirts will fit me but sleeve wise they won't.

The long sleeve Brandini shirts (no button or anything, just pull over long sleeve shirts kinda like a long sleeve t-shirt but dressy) are some of my favorite shirts I have because they fit very well.

I haven't tried out the premium brands much, but I'm most happy with Premium-fitted from Gap; this is coming from someone short who hates looking shorter with puffy, oversized clothing:|. But even those occasionally fail me. H&M seems to be the best in terms of fit right now. Love their 'new?' XS:).

I love Lacoste, they fit very well. However, I can't see him dropping $80 on a Lacoste shirt when he doesn't wanna spend $70 on A+F.

Couldn't tell you which of those brands are, sorry. But the Structure brand dress shirts they sell at Sears are slim fit, I really like those. They're more casual as far as dress shirts go though.

Thanks! Are you skinny/lanky?

Not as skinny/lanky as I used to be, but I hate the normal dress shirt cut. It billows out around my waist too much. The structure shirts are a good width near my waist.

i consider myself slim and the 1mx fits just about PERFECT for me (sides may be a taddd short). (their quality is something else, though)

if youre slimmer, cant help you there... tried beene/ck/rl/ck/nordstrom/boss... basically anything found at any major department store... none are slimmer than 1mx

the closest fit is Alfani (Macy's housebrand)

you may wantto go custom

also have these 2. for the same length (arm & sides) as express, BR has slightly larger waist, but the biggest problem is the TINY neck.

Gap... well, their premium slim shrinks and poor. everything about gap is poor quality

Where should I go to get custom? Any idea what the costs would be? I got the 1MX shirts for $20 each on a sale and have seen them go for $25. This price range if very nice for me.

Your going wrong by picking generic size shirts from mall stores. Try a properly sized dress shirt from the mens dept. (example 16/35) where size is the measurement of your neck size and arm length. If you do not know your measurements ask a clerk to measure you.

I usually go to a place like Marshalls or Stein Mart and can find decent good quality shirts in the $15~20 range. I have CK, Geoffrey Beene, Claiborne, Nautica etc... shirts that all fit the same b/c they are the proper measurements.

I already know my neck size and arm length because I've gotten them measured: 15.5 inch and 32/33. Unfortunately, this does not take into account waist size or chest size.

Strangely enough, the small 1MX shirts are supposed to have a neck size of 14.5 inches, yet these fit my neck perfectly while shirts with 15 inch neck sizes like from Geoffrey Beene are way too restrictive.

mytailor.com is one ive had recommended
you can google for more

usually theyre sewn in asia (taiwan or hk) and shipped over. cost is about 50-60 $USD, and most people swear by it...not just looks but quality

i settle for 1mx.. when they fade or stain (does happen frequently) i just get naother for 25$.

I know what you mean.

Shops on Jermyn street in London are reputable for making very nice, high-quality shirts. (2 such are Charles Tyrwhitt and Thomas Pink). but expensive and not custom.

Fuzzy...have you not been fitted?

I have no idea what in the world a 1MX shirt is. There are no measurements on that.

Neck
Width
Length

That's all you need.

I am pretty slim and I've gone through plenty of dress shirts because I wear dress shirts 5 or 6 times a week. If you want high quality dress shirts that will last for a good amount of time, Brooks Brothers Slim-Fit Non-Irons are the way to go. You can get 3 for $180 normally but there are 10% off deals and if you have a corporate discount card, that's 10% off as well.

They are specific slim-fit shirts that are tailored different from the traditional dress shirt fit and they are non-irons so just hang em up and steam up the bathroom and you are usually good to go.

I stopped buying the 1mx shirts because they were a pain to iron and they faded after a couple of washes. Any major designer makes a fitted shirt...i personally like claiborne myself.

If you were to get fitted, make sure they take measurements for your chest, waist, and hip.
