Which brand of laptop is the least picky with RAM?

Last year before I sold my HP G62t laptop to my brother's girlfriend, I tried to upgrade it from 3GB of RAM to 8GB, and with two different brands of RAM (G.Skill and Mushkin) I got BSOD errors. I learned the hard way that I had to buy system specific RAM for that particular machine, and I picked up the right RAM from Kingston and it worked.

I would like to know, which brand of laptop is generally the least picky with RAM?

Usually, the issue is if you mix DIMMs.
I haven't really ran into any issues with compatibility with DIMMs & laptops.

I didn't mix DIMMs; both sets were from a kit and they gave me BSOD errors.

Strangely, the original DIMMs that the laptop came with were two different brands - the 2GB stick was made by AData, while the 1GB stick was made by Ramaxel. This was a configure-to-order system. The G.Skill and Mushkin kits didn't work, so I settled for Kingston system specific DIMMs (2x 4GB) which worked.

If you use a "memory selector" wizard at Crucial.com or similar they find RAM that will work with whatever the laptop needs in terms of voltage, speed, timings.

I actually wonder, perhaps why the G.Skill and Mushkin modules didn't work could have been due to their density. I actually read that the HP G62 series laptops will only accept low density 4GB modules (those with 8 chips per side). I think the G.Skill and Mushkin modules might have been high density modules.
