Any good brand beside STUDDS(which I am familiar with) to go with?
Looking for moderate price and good quality(for safety obviously)
Thanks in advance. Have a good day
My 2 cents
Helmet makers tend to be grouped by head shapes so first you need to find which brands fit your head best.
From there you narrow it down by price range.
Now consider the type of riding you will be doing, typical weather etc etc.
Some helmets offer great airflow and are very quiet....if you are riding a standard bike with an upright position. Second you hop on a bike with a forward lean and now that same helmet is the nosiest helmet you've ever experienced with the vents open.
Do you want spare face shields? Will you be changing them out often? Then you need to consider how easy it is and how durable the mechanism.
Internal visor? Space for bluetooth crap?
From here you have to research and further narrow it down.
Having said that...
Just about every full face helmet will protect you. What you are paying for is features and quality of components and finish.
ARAI - Super pricey. Quality of the liner and cushions are very high. A premium product. If you have no problem dropping $700 to $1200 on a helmet that offers the same amount of protection as a $80 helmet then by all means. If you plan on doing trackdays are racing, these should be top of your list. Stable helmets at high speed. I believe their vents are designed to break away in case of a spill so don't get clumsy with these.
Shoei - This is another premium helmet maker. Fits a different shaped head than ARAI. Think of these as a budget ARAI when it comes to helmets for street riding. I think they make quieter more rounded helmets at a lower price point. Very nice materials as well. Great venting on a lot of their models.
AGV - Has "italian" flare. Has italian quality. These seem to be one of those helmets that are great in the specs and initial review but turn to a series of broken latches, leaky seals and busted vents. Not a fan of these.
Icon- The "Bro special" often found in brick and mortar stores. For the price, they seem like a great deal. Until you put it on and notice how the peripheral view is less than other helmets. Until you have to use that stupid shield locking setup they have. The vents seem made to break after a month of usage. Popular with the younger crowd who don't know any better or get pulled in by the "I can sell you this with a store discount. Plus its got a skull on the back with dragons and stuff".
Skorpion - A very sold bang for the buck brand. Some models can be on the noisy side. Some are really quiet. Some models have great venting. Some do not. I personally have used EXO-1000 and currently use a EXO-1100.
HJC - A decent budget brand with a few gems in their lineup. RHPA series is worth checking out.
Bell - They've made improvements over the years but I've heard they are a bit weak on ventilation.
Schubert - Another pricey brand. I don't have any personal experience with this but the riders I've known who owned this typically have a PhD, are wearing a roadcrafter and ride a BMW K series with around 8 bajillion miles on the odometer. Usually it's parked in one of the good spaces at the Hospital parking lot. In other words, Schuberths have their fans and typically these people are those who put a lot of thought in to what gear they have.
Suomy - Never sure how to pronounce the name so I assume they are for hippies and vagrants.
Speed and Strength - I've heard these are a bit prone to quality issues and are not the quietest of helmets. For the price they make a great spare "loser passenger" helmet
